Debbie Lee, Grant Manager
Debbie Lee is a grant manager at Insight Education Group. She supports Insight's Project IGNITE (Innovation Generated by Networked Improvement Teams of Educators) program funded through the US Department of Education's Teacher and School Leader (TSL) grant.
Prior to this role, she served as the chief of staff for the service delivery team at Insight. Debbie has also served as a program and policy development advisor at the Los Angeles Unified School District and managed the implementation of the District’s federal Teacher Incentive Fund grant project. She was also responsible for co-leading the design and district-wide implementation of the online platform for educator performance evaluations.
Debbie began her career in education as a middle school reading and elementary school teacher in Washington, DC through Teach For America (TFA). She saw firsthand the importance of having a common understanding of what quality instruction looks like, and the need for ongoing support and development for teachers to attain that level of quality. Debbie’s experience with TFA eventually led her to the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching, where she worked as a senior policy associate supporting the organization’s advocacy work in educator effectiveness and the implementation of its reform model throughout the country.
In her work, Debbie is driven by the belief that an excellent education can offer all students access to a great future, and that supporting and promoting effective teaching and school leadership are key leverage points to that future
Debbie earned her B.A. in Economics and Social Welfare at the University of California, Berkeley and her M.P.P. at the University of California, Los Angeles.
