Leeann Michalak Bartee, Ph.D.
Senior Associate

Dr. Leeann Bartee is a senior associate with Insight and is primarily responsible for leading strategic school improvement and leadership initiatives with school districts.

Prior to joining Insight, Leeann served as coordinator of school improvement and leadership initiatives at a state service center focused on facilitating turnaround and transformative change. In that role, she led the school improvement team in building districts’ and schools’ capacity to respond to statewide accountability measures.

Leeann has served as a secondary administrator and school improvement coach for over 14 years. She supported school transformation funded by grants from the Federal Smaller Learning Communities, DATE, Building Capacity in Rural Schools, and Texas Title One Priority Schools (Federal School Improvement Grant) programs. Her experience spans work with the largest urban districts and the smallest rural districts in the country. From these experiences, she knows there are common best practices, but they only thrive when organized around a school’s specific context.

In the relentless pursuit of #EquityforALL, Leeann strives for equity that embraces children and adults. She believes that the promise of school reform rests in the growth of leaders and empowerment of teachers. She combined her experience leading turnaround schools and over thirty years of research in organizational behavior to fuse adult development theory, growth mindset, and practice-based coaching into a new model for educational leadership coaching.

Leeann holds a bachelor’s degree in organizational communication from the University of Texas at Arlington, a master’s degree in education from the University of North Texas, and a Ph.D. from Walden University in K-12 educational leadership.
