John George serves as a senior associate at Insight Education Group. In this role, he
partners with clients to provide targeted support for educator effectiveness and strategic planning initiatives. He is also involved with consulting with our partners across a variety of projects including leadership development, equity analysis & support, superintendent/ district
strategic planning, adult learning, organizational leadership, and leadership coaching.
Mr. George lives by the motto,” our kids are worth whatever it takes to be success.” This motto has led him to many different roles in the public education sector. He started his career as a high school mathematics teacher in Charlotte, NC. He spent 20 years with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in a variety of roles including Math Teacher, Academics Facilitator, Assistant Principal, Principal, and Learning Community Support Coordinator. Working in Title I schools ignited a passion for Mr. George to pursue ways in which to undo the inequities that are inherent in our public education system. This work led Mr. George to a non-profit Equal Opportunity Schools, where he supported 75 high school principals design and create pathways
for more students to have access to rigorous coursework such as Advanced placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), and Dual Credit enrollment. In spring 2022, Mr. George joined Houston Independent School District (HISD) as the Executive Director of Leadership Development, charged with ensuring a strong bench of leaders in each of the 274 schools. HISD expanded that role by launching the inaugural cohorts of the Leadership Academies (Principal Academy, Aspiring AP Academy, Teacher Leader Academy), whose focus is to expand leadership density throughout HISD.
John holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics/secondary education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and a master’s degree in school administration from Gardner Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC.
