Mitch Center is a specialist with Insight Education Group. In this role, he supports districts through on-site coaching of Instructional Leadership Teams, delivery of leadership development sessions to school and district leaders, asset-based school reviews, and design and facilitation work supporting the development of leader pipeline and evaluation tools.
For over 20 years, Mitch has been fortunate to have a range of roles in the field of education. Beginning as an AmeriCorps volunteer in Austin Texas, Mitch then went on to become an elementary school teacher in Brooklyn, and then a principal with the Success Charter Network in Harlem. In 2010, Mitch worked with TNTP to help pilot the new teacher evaluation system that was eventually rolled out to all NYC DOE schools. He then became an Assistant Superintendent in Newark, New Jersey where he supported 18 schools and helped lead the design and roll out of new teacher and leader evaluation and support systems.
Throughout his career, Mitch has held the deep belief that great schools have the potential to transform lives and that the key to this transformation is committed leaders and teachers who are devoted to always getting better for the sake of kids.
Mitch graduated from SUNY New Paltz with a bachelor's degree in Sociology, and he holds a master's degree in both Developmental Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University, and in Educational Leadership from Pace University.
