Kisha Tolbert Simmons, Ph.D., NBCT, Senior Associate
Dr. Kisha Tolbert Simmons serves as a senior associate at Insight Education Group, primarily responsible for leading targeted support work for local, regional, and state education agencies in the areas of educator growth and effectiveness, strategic planning and execution, and curriculum planning and instructional design.
Prior to joining Insight, Kisha served as head of innovation and national school partnerships for an on-demand digital support services company committed to revolutionizing how and when middle and high school students receive academic, career, and SEL supports beyond the school day. In this role, she served as a division leader responsible for leading the ideation process with clients and the company’s executive team, managing large scale projects, offering ad-hoc executive coaching, supporting contract advancement and renewal, and providing and showcasing thought leadership.
Kisha has served as the federal program director of a $19.6 million GEAR UP grant serving 3,300 students in a large urban school district in Alabama, a regional elementary math and science specialist, a state educator effectiveness specialist in the Division of Teaching and Learning for the Alabama State Department of Education, an elementary and secondary instructional partner, a reading coach, national virtual coach, national education consultant, adjunct professor, and multi-grade classroom teacher.
Kisha serves on the Board of Directors for STAIR Birmingham, a nonprofit early literacy organization on a mission to improve the reading skills and self-esteem of second grade students. She is also a state council member for the Alabama ACT State Organization.
Kisha earned her bachelor’s degree from Auburn University, master’s degree from Lesley University, education specialist degree from Liberty University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in education with a specialization in curriculum and instruction from Capella University. She is a proud 2007 National Board Certified Teacher; 2017 renewed.
