School Leadership Coach
Kela Small is a School Leadership Coach at Insight Education Group, supporting Insight’s Project IGNITE (Innovation Generated by Networked Improvement Teams of Educators) program. In this role, Kela provides targeted support for principals and school leadership teams.
Kela began her career with the Memphis Teacher Residency teaching high school English. She taught multiple levels of secondary English before moving into an assistant school leader role at a high-performing Memphis middle school. She quickly became interested in coaching adults to become better teachers, and accepted a principal residency with Accelerate Institute. From there, she became an elementary school principal up until she joined Insight's team.
Kela is passionate about teacher development, coaching, recruitment, and retention. She believes that when school leaders prioritize a strong staff culture, teachers and students thrive. Kela is committed to helping leaders reach the goals that lead to improved outcomes for students.
Kela holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Christian Brothers University, and a Master of Urban Education from Union University.
