Assessments: Are educators ready? The new Toolkit from Reform Support Network

Written by Dr. Michael Moody | Sep 3, 2020 5:00:00 AM

Great resources are hard to come by in education - particularly when it comes to assessment. Considering the importance placed on testing in most states and districts today, there is relatively little available to support educators through writing and selecting well-designed assessments.

However, the  Reform Support Network (RSN) and The Center on Standards and Assessment Implementation are working to change that with their recently released Assessment Design Toolkit

I have had the great privilege of contributing to the Toolkit, and am excited about its potential to build educators' assessment literacy and inform future professional learning opportunities.

With a focus on how to plan, design, and choose high-quality assessments, each of the Toolkit's 13 modules include resources that can be downloaded, edited, and directly applied in practice.

Take a look at the first module, which features assessment blueprints and will guide you through the five elements of assessment design:

  1. Alignment
  2. Rigor
  3. Precision
  4. Bias
  5. Scoring

Check out this quick video and guide to learn more about how to use the Toolkit in your district, school, or classroom.
