Dr. Michael S. Moody

Dr. Michael S. Moody, is the Chief Executive Officer at Insight Education Group.  His experience as a special education teacher, a math/science core teacher, a reading/language arts teacher, and a third grade teacher have provided him with the experience necessary to understand first-hand the needs and demands of students, teachers and academic personnel. Michael Moody is also the designer and developer of a charter high-school in the Los Angeles Unified School District.  This foundation has enabled Michael to work with diverse groups of teachers, particularly when specific content knowledge was required.
Michael's experience with educators, parents, and students has enabled him to work on a wide variety of projects in the field. His successes span from implementation of nation-wide curriculum redevelopment programs to individual lessons with students struggling to achieve. A guiding principle in all Michael's projects is to create effective educational programs capable of providing each and every student with equal access to a quality education. This standard continues to inspire the progress and transformation he seeks to bring about in the field of education.

Upon leaving the classroom, Dr. Moody founded Insight Education Group, Inc. and has continued to ensure that the firm is highly respected for its quality work with schools and districts alike. Much of his career, including his time as a classroom teacher, has revolved around the redevelopment of educational programs in under-performing schools.  He has spent the last several years developing a comprehensive school reform model that integrates professional development and coaching to accommodate the needs of low-performing schools struggling to increase student achievement.

Michael has worked with teachers on effectively implementing state content standards, developing effective and efficient formative and summative assessment methods, and providing high-quality, innovative instruction in all content areas.  He has worked with teachers on the implementation of state-adopted reading and mathematics programs, as Open Court, Language!, Read 180, Success for All, the Waterford Early Reading Program, Harcourt, McDougal Littell, and Prentice Hall, to name a few. Additionally, Michael designed and implemented a training program for the Los Angeles Unified School District to train external evaluators on the effectiveness of the Open Court Reading Program.

Michael S. Moody earned a Masters degree in education with an emphasis in teaching and curriculum from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a Doctorate in Urban School Leadership from the University of Southern California. He holds teaching credentials in California and Massachusetts as well as an Administrative Services Credential. He is currently affiliated with, several education organizations, including the National Staff Development Council (NSDC), Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), Phi Delta Kappa, Association of Education Practitioners & Providers, Education Industry Association (EIA), California Charter School Association (CCSA). In addition to presenting at national conferences for the previously mentioned organizations, he continues to pursue his own professional development in the field.
