Kendra Kecker

Kendra Kecker is a Director of School Partnerships with Insight Education Group. She brings over ten years of experience working in three urban schools as both a teacher and administrator. Most recently, she was the principal of a K-8 school site with Camino Nuevo Charter Academy in Los Angeles, developing a strong understanding of the complexities of school leadership in today's educational climate.

During her five years as principal with Camino Nuevo, Kendra helped facilitate consistent increases in student achievement, improving the school's score on the state API ranking system nearly three hundred points to 740. The school was able to show continuous growth by developing a strong professional learning community amongst the staff, engaging parents and families at a high level, creating partnerships with community organizations to meet student and school needs, and maintaining a consistent focus on doing whatever it takes to help each child succeed. Kendra believes empowering staff and building relationships among stakeholders are critical to school success.

Prior to working as a school administrator, Kendra taught elementary school in both California and Minnesota. While teaching, she served as a grade level chair, coordinated professional development, and developed and implemented an environmental curriculum with the goals of incorporating service learning and helping students develop a better understanding of the world around them and their impact on it.

Kendra earned a B.S. in education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Master's Degree in Educational Policy and Administration from the University of Southern California. While working on her Masters, she co-edited a book on charter school leadership. She holds a clear California teaching credential and a clear administrative credential is pending. She is affiliated with the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) and the California Charter School Association (CCSA). She was recently published in the National Association of Elementary School Principal's (NAESP) Principal Magazine and was presented with an Outstanding Principal of 2007 award from the MIND Research Institute.
