Carol Cienfuegos

Carol Cienfuegos comes to Insight Education Group with several years of school-based experience at both the elementary and middle school levels. Having been a classroom teacher, grade level team leader, and instructional coach, she brings an array of expertise in instructional best practices leading to student achievement.

Before joining the team at Insight Education Group, Carol served as an Instructional Coach with DC Public Schools. She coached instructional staff members from varying departments through constant observation and the development of coaching plans. Carol designed and executed many professional development sessions, which aided teachers in increasing their evaluation scores throughout the school year. She led the implementation of the SDSA model to ensure the planning and delivery of rigorous instruction aligned to the state standards.

Carol earned a B.S. in Elementary Education with a concentration in mathematics from the University of Maryland College Park and an M.S. in Educational Leadership from Hood College. She holds teaching credentials in Maryland and the District of Columbia, as well as administrative certification. Carol has presented to various student audiences at the University of Maryland on the topics of math discourse in the classroom and working with diverse learners. Her course work includes, Meeting the Needs of the African American Male Student, Ensuring Latino Achievement, Affirming Diversity, Educational Philosophy in a Diverse Society, and Teaching the ESOL Student in the Mainstream Classroom, among several others. She is currently affiliated with the National Staff Development Council (NSDC), National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), and National Education Association (NEA). Carol draws from her own experience, both personal and professional, to lead teachers and inspire students.
